Maren Morris Says 'Hello' to 34 as She Celebrates Her Birthday and Being on the 'Other Side' of Last Year

Maren Morris has crossed The Bridge from 33 into 34 and she's feeling great.

On Wednesday, April 10, the country music star celebrated her 34th birthday and shared a sweet message on Instagram in honor of her special day. In her post, which featured photos from her birthday bash, Morris opened up in the caption about how grateful she is to be "on the other side" of her past year, which saw her finalize her divorce from Ryan Hurd and announce her step back from the country music machine.

According to the "Get the Hell Out of Here" singer's carousel, she rang in 34 with friends in New York City, which is where she's been the past week to promote the release of her new children's book, Addie Ant Goes on an Adventure.

Her collection of photos and videos featured shots of herself looking chic while out and about, dressed in a leather trench coat and stilettos, and dining at the Manhattan hot-spot Altro Paradiso.

The Grammy winner also shared a video of her and a friend enjoying cocktails. As her pal mouthed the audio, "Do you think there's something wrong with us?" Morris hilariously shrugged and rolled her eyes as she lip-synced, "Well, there is something wrong with us."

In the caption, "The Middle" singer wrote, "hello, 34. the year of 33 was… something."

"but the bridge has been crossed and I’m on the other side," she continued, seemingly making a nod to her two-track 2023 EP, which marked her first release on Columbia, as opposed to Columbia Nashville.

Morris also added a thoughtful shout-out to her friends. "the wonderful women in my life who carried me over it, I’ll never be able to repay you," she wrote.

Over the past 12 months, a number of changes have occurred in Morris' life.

In October 2023, filed for a dissolution of marriage from her ex-husband of five years, citing irreconcilable differences, and the former couple (who share son Hayes, 4) finalized the divorce three months later in January 2024.

The singer-songwriter also revealed in a September 2023 interview with the Los Angeles Times that she was planning to "take a step back" from the country music industry because she felt "very, very distanced" from others in the business and their politics.

Morris reflected on her tumultuous year in a March interview with Billboard in which she candidly shared that she's looking forward to moving on.

When asked what 2023 signified for her, she said, "I’m going to sound so Pinterest, but I think just letting go. Or changeover," and explained that she feels like she's now "on this precipice of massive, massive change."

"And the music’s certainly reflecting that," the hitmaker noted. "In 2024, not that I’ve got an album done yet, but by the week [it’s] getting clearer and clearer what the theme and the sonics are."

The "Girl" singer revealed, "I want this year to be about my own happiness — becoming a better mom and boss and human and writer and all the things."

While Morris may not officially have a release date set for the new music she's working on, it's looking like 2024 will be a big year for the musician.

The country-pop artist has confirmed she's been collaborating with Grammy-winning producer Jack Antonoff, and she's also set to hit the road soon.

Last month, Morris announced the 2024 RSVP Redux Tour in celebration of the 5th anniversary of her beloved, sophomore album Girl.

The string of live shows across North America serve as make up dates for her 2020 RSVP Tour, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and she's making it extra special for fans, too, by letting them curate the set list.

The ACM award winner will kick off her concerts in late May, playing a total of 11 dates along the west coast throughout the summer, and has already teased "more dates to come." On Tuesday, Maroon 5 announced their own East Coast leg, for which Morris will open.
