Maren Morris reimagines Billy Idol’s classic “Dancing With Myself” as a new wave bop in a video celebrating Singles Awareness Day.

The visual finds Morris alone (naturally) in Nashville’s famed Grimey’s record store, where the singer peruses the shelves and performs a New Order-ed take on the 1981 hit to an audience of no one.

Singles Awareness Day was concocted by wireless carrier Visible — who “offer ‘family plan savings’ to single-line users — as a means to celebrate singlehood. Morris is freshly single, having filed for divorce from her husband, Ryan Hurd, in October.

“Recording and filming the music video for my cover of Billy Idol’s ‘Dancing with Myself’ was such a dream come true and I hope fans can dance along while also knowing it’s okay to be in your feelings,” Morris said in a statement. “I am so excited to partner with a company like Visible who prioritizes self-empowerment and independence for their mobile plans.”

Morris added of the song in a behind-the-scenes video, “‘Dancing With Myself’ to me is about enjoying the pleasure of your own company and celebrating that and not stigmatizing it, and being righteously selfish. I think that more people should do that; I think you exist better to your loved ones when you prioritize yourself.”

“Dancing With Myself” marks Morris’ first new music since her 2023 EP The Bridge, a two-song release that seemed to hint at both her departure from both the country music industry and her impending divorce.
