Maren Morris leads the 2019 CMA Awards nominations, 'Old Town Road' just makes the cut

The 2019 Country Music Association Award nominations have been announced and it looks like Maren Morris is the GIRL to beat.

For the second time in four years, Morris leads the CMA nominations, but it is the show’s host Carrie Underwood who is the sole female nominee for Entertainer of the Year.

Also nominated for the major award is Garth Brooks, making him the second most nominated act in the Entertainer of the Year category behind 19-time nominee George Strait.

While it did not make the cut for Single of the Year or Song of the Year, the record-breaking smash hit “Old Town Road (Remix)” by Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus did make the CMA Awards nominations cut in the Musical Event of the Year category.

Helping Underwood with her hosting duties for this year’s show, which will be handed out Wed., Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, are country queens Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.
