Morris and Hozier first collaborated in 2019 on Morris' crossover hit "The Bones." Along with that song, the CMT Crossroads episode will feature Hozier's "Take Me to Church," "Work Song," and two releases off his newest album -- "Eat Your Young" and "All Things End." As well, Morris' "My Church," "Girl," and her brand new single, "The Tree," will be featured.

About the latter, it's part of "The Bridge," a forthcoming new, two-track EP release.

Regarding what could be alluding to "The Tree," she's only posted, "I'm done filling a cup with a hole in the bottom," presumably one of the song's lyrics.

About the forthcoming "The Bridge" release in total, she's added the following:

"As I've been working on my record nonstop this year, I realized these two songs deserved a moment on their own - a story in their own right, written a day apart from each other - a tender duo and bridge to my next album. I welcome, celebrate and grieve the changes that have happened these last few years and these two songs say it better than I ever could in a caption or interview. The album is coming, but in the meantime, let's cross the bridge together. Hope you enjoy these."

"Wherever I'm going, hope I'm not the only one," she added, completing her statement.

“Getting to share songs with Maren Morris for ‘CMT Crossroads’ was a uniquely rewarding and fun experience," shared Hozier via a press statement.

"I’ve often felt a great deal of kinship between her work and my own. Getting to explore that and work alongside someone so outrageously talented was a joy. There were moments on that stage that I got to be a musician, a performer, collaborator and an audience member to Maren’s beautiful new music all at once.”

“Hozier is such a necessary artist to these times," Morris added.

"He meets every moment with tenderness, clever wit and a strong moral stance for what is right. I’ve loved becoming friends with him over the years and I truly consider him to be one of the best of our generation. It was so much fun to collaborate again.”

Via a press statement, “CMT Crossroads” is lauded for two decades of "[illustrating] country music's far-reaching roots" by pairing acts including Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams, Def Leppard and Taylor Swift, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and The Black Crowes and Darius Rucker.
