The 2020 Grammy Awards brought out some of the hottest celebrities in Hollywood, including Gwen Stefani, Lizzo, Ariana Grande, and Lana Del Rey — but there was one of music’s biggest stars who was notably missing from the A-list event. Country singer Maren Morris was a no-show at the prestigious award show, despite being nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance alongside Brandi Carlile’s for their duet, “Common.” So, where was the 29-year-old and why did she choose to skip the show?

It turns out, Morris skipped the 2020 Grammys because she was off celebrating her babymoon! The singer took to Instagram yesterday to share a photo of herself cradling her gorgeous baby bump while overlooking a lake at Blackberry Farm in Tennessee.

We can’t say we blame the country star for choosing her babymoon over the Grammys. After all, the award show comes around each and every year — this may be her only time to get away with her husband, Ryan Hurd, and celebrate the arrival of their first child.

The pair announced they were expecting in October 2019 with a beautiful portrait. In the photo, Hurd is seen with his forehead pressed against Maren’s while she gazes into the distance and holds her bare belly. “The irony is just too rich that after a year of living in the ‘GIRL’ headspace, the universe would give us a baby boy to even things out. See you in 2020, little one,” she wrote.

Hurd also took to Instagram with an announcement of his own. “MY BOYS CAN SWIM. BABY BOY HURD 2020!” he shared.
