Marcus Satterfield to be Nebraska’s offensive coordinator
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule has hired his offensive coordinator as his staff continues to come together in Lincoln. Marcus Satterfield, the offensive coordinator of South Carolina, will be the new OC of the Cornhuskers. Rhule and Satterfield have coached together previously at Temple, Baylor, and Carolina.
As the offensive coordinator of South Carolina, Satterfield helped lead the Gamecocks to an 8-4 record, averaging 31.5 points. A report from Pete Thamel states that South Carolina tried to keep Satterfield, but he ultimately made the choice to join his old boss at Nebraska.
Satterfield had faced criticism from Gamecock fans throughout the 2022 season but ended the year on a high note, with wins over Tennessee and Clemson averaging 47 points over the course of those two games. Satterfield is known for a pro-style offense that relies on a physical running game and a passing game that aggressively pushes the ball down the field.

As @PeteThamel reported, @GamecockFB OC Marcus Satterfield told me this morning he’s accepted a job to go with Matt Rhule as @HuskerFBNation’s OC. Rhule and Satterfield worked together at Temple and Baylor.

Satterfield one of the definite names that was on the assistant watch list of possible hires we had Saturday morning. Deep connection with Rhule. His South Carolina offense hit its full stride at the end, with a 63-38 win over Tennessee and 31-30 win over Clemson.

Marcus Satterfield to Nebraska as OC is the best possible outcome for him and South Carolina. He leaves on a huge high note, and Shane Beamer gets to pick what direction he wants to go offensively with a very different hiring situation than he faced in 2020 as a rookie HC.

With @Coach_Satt leaving for @HuskerFBNation, it’s not a case of @CoachSBeamer pushing him out. Satterfield took heat from fans (much of it nonsense), but he and Rhule are close. Satt did a better job than given credit for. There were dips, but O was money in two biggest wins.

Quite a few South Carolina fans did not like Marcus Satterfield about 16 days ago. Then Tennessee and Clemson happened. With that said, it makes a ton of sense that he's off to be the OC at Nebraska.
