Marcia Clark Bashes Martin Sheen’s Upcoming O.J. Simpson Docuseries

Marcia Clark was on Today and discussed Tuesday’s finale of American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson. During the interview, Savannah Guthrie mentioned the upcoming docuseries Hard Evidence: O.J. Is Innocent. The series is being executive-produced and narrated by actor Martin Sheen. Clark is not thrilled overall with everything from the direction to the approach to the new take on the trial. “I’ll tell you why I find it offensive. Because it is nonsense,” Clark told Guthrie. “Because there is no real logic. There’s no evidence, there’s nothing to back it up. Nothing.”

Clark, whose tribulations during her prosecution of Simpson have been well documented, explained the theory that the upcoming Sheen piece is using as its angle: that Jason Simpson, O.J.’s son, was the killer. “They’re aiming at Jason Simpson, and that, to me, is the most hideous thing you could possibly do,” Clark said. “He was very close to Nicole. He loved her. There was no motive for him to do this.” While the theory that Jason was responsible for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman has been floated around before, Clark takes major issue with this sensationalized strategy. “He can’t defend himself. What is he going to do? Say, ‘It’s not me, it’s my dad.’ You know?” mused Clark. “And what a hideous thing to do. I just can’t even tell you how awful it is, and it’s baseless.”
