Recap Tallahassee's Best Pizza Challenge championship

Both Momo's Pizza and Gaines Street Pies dominated every bracket they were placed in. Momo's Pizza came out strong earning over 70% of the votes against Munchies Pizza in just the first round. The landmark pizzeria kept its strong lead throughout the first three rounds against other competing establishments, Little Italy and Riccardo's Restaurant.

But the latest round left the pizzeria with only 40% of the votes.

Gaines Street Pies started off the first round pulling out a win against Isabella's Pizzeria Napoletana by a slim 51%. For the rest of the brackets, Gaines Street Pies stayed with an average of 56% of the votes against Decent Pizza and Brickyard Pizzeria.

Gaines Street Pies

According to its website, "Gaines Street Pies was created by two local guys that wanted to create the best pizza in Tallahassee," and the votes prove today that they did just that in this year's lineups.

Gaines Street Pies, a comic-book themed pizzeria takes foodies to a new dimension with 20 different “Heroes and Villains Specialty Pies," with three locations in the capital city.

The dynamic duo and pizza lovers City Commissioner Jeremy Matlow and Ryan Smith have built their pizza empire throughout the city for over 10 years now.

Outside of specialty pies, the pizza joint offers sandwiches, salads, appetizers, wraps and desserts, becoming a go-to dining spot for hungry Seminoles and Rattlers on Gaines Street, busy workers in its Sixth Avenue location and families looking to grab a quick bite at Capital Circle.
