William Nylander to miss 2nd straight game with illness

The illness that forced Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander to miss Friday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks will cost him another game.

Toronto will roll out the same lineup on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens, meaning Nylander will be watching from the press box instead of joining his team on the ice.

The 23-year-old Nylander has enjoyed a tremendous bounce-back campaign after sitting out a large part of last year waiting to sign with the team as a restricted free agent. He is second on the team with 25 goals and third in points with 49 in 54 games this season.

The Maple Leafs were able to weather the storm of not having Nylander in the lineup by squeaking out an overtime win against the Ducks on Friday. They are banking on being able to do the same against a Canadiens club that is six points behind them in the Atlantic Division standings. Toronto currently sits at 65 points, and is currently holding down a playoff spot in third place in the division.

The identical lineup on the second half the back-to-back includes newcomer Jack Campbell, who will start in goal for the second time in as many nights.
