How many people attended Jazz Fest this year? Festival organizers share highlights

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has officially wrapped up, and organizers are sharing how many fans made their way to the fairgrounds.

According to a news release, 500,000 fans attended this year’s fest.

Festival organizers said 2024 was a” historic year” for the Jazz Fest with the addition of an extra day and a sold-out performance from The Rolling Stones.

Fans gathered at the Fair Grounds Race Course on April 25, 26, 27 and 28, and May 2, 3, 4 and 5 to experience two weekends of music, food and culture.

Organizers said fans experienced blues, gospel, R&B, traditional and temporary jazz, Cajun, zydeco, brass bands, Mardi Gras Indian music and more performances.

In addition to the music, organizers said attendees also enjoyed more than 100 dishes from food vendors across the fest including crawfish bread and jama jama.

They said some of the highlights of the 2024 festival included The Rolling Stones’ performance, Jon Batiste’s “only-in-New-Orleans set that paid homage to the city’s piano legends,” the Foo Fighters’ return to the fest and a Jimmy Buffett tribute.

Organizers also noted that the celebration of Colombian music, art and cuisine in the Expedia Cultural Exchange Pavillion was “the largest presentation of its kind ever at the event.”

The news release states next year’s Jazz Fest is set to take place from April 24 to May 4, 2025.
