Manny Jacinto of 'The Good Place' Discusses Everything From His Career to His Love Life at Vulturefest

Manny Jacinto made an appearance at this year's Vulturefest and was, being a star and the eye candy of one of the decade's most successful sitcoms 'The Good Place,' the center of attention. He sat on a 'The Good Place' panel with D'arcy Carden (Janet) and Marc Evan Jackson (Shawn) where he commended 'The Good Place' for its diverse casting and announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, Dianne Doan. Doan is also an actress whose most recent and notable role was Mai Ling in 'Warrior'

NBC explains 'The Good Place' as, "a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop, an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael, she's determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot." Manny Jacinto plays a self-proclaimed rapper who is all looks and no brains. The show was featured at Vulture Festival in honor of its fourth and last season on air.

Vulture Festival describes itself as, live events, podcasts, cast reunions.” During 'The Good Place' panel, Jacinto discussed the importance of diverse casting. He is one of few Filipino actors in a lead role on a TV show. While he believes the movement to cast more diverse actors needs more momentum, he is proud of 'The Good Place' and the efforts it has made. "This is a great time to tell your story," Jacinto said. "It's a blessing to be a part of a show that has so many different faces."

Jacinto also reluctantly spilled the beans on how he proposed to his now fiance. “I took her to places that really meant a lot to us,” he said. “I had these canvas (notes) explaining why the places were important to us.” He took her to their five most meaningful locations. At the fifth location, the final note contained his proposal, andhe arranged for family to be there to celebrate the big moment. He humorously added, “I think she thought I was going to pop the question at the first place?” “So with the first note, she was like, ‘Oh, that’s cool.’ I think she was a little disappointed there wasn't more." Ultimately, Doan was pleased with the efforts and accepted his proposal. The two are now happily engaged.
