Manitowoc's events this week include Porta Potty Races, piglets at Farm Wisconsin and much more

1. Pet the piglets at Farm Wisconsin

The whole family can meet little piglets Feb. 24 as the Peter Family Show Pigs will be at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, 7001 Gass Lake Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

As a bonus, guests will also have the chance to learn hands-on about strawberry production in an indoor hydroponic garden.

2. Celebrate with ‘A Mardi Gras Jubilee’

Dubbed the “Gem of the Lakeshore,” the Capitol Civic Centre, 913 S. Eighth St., really is a sight to behold and gorgeous event venue.

“Celebrating the Capitol: A Mardi Gras Jubilee” is a new annual event to celebrate this gem. It features performances by Janet Planet and Cathy Grier and starts at 2 p.m. Feb. 25.

After the concert, join the VIP reception to mingle with the artists and enjoy appetizers.

Proceeds from this show benefit the Capitol, and keep it in tip-top shape.

3. Have a laugh at Stand-up Comedy Night

Laugh until your sides hurt with another comedy night at Sabbatical Brewing Co., 825 S. 29th St.

Host John Berens has a lineup of Wisconsin comedians including Elaine Jumes, Luise Noe, Rich D’Amore, Craig Smith and headliner Raegan Niemela.

Grab some friends, a few brews and take your seat at this free event at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

4. Watch the Porta Potty Races for a cause

One of the biggest and funniest late-winter events in the Manitowoc area is the Porta Potty Races, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 24.

Teams build outhouses and race them against each other tournament-style while onlookers toss toilet paper rolls their way.

In addition to the races, there will be food and drinks, raffles and silent auction, kids’ activities, and live music.

Proceeds support Lakeshore Foster Families and Friends.
