Manitowoc library brings Misako Rocks!, illustrator/youth novel author, and more can't-miss events

1. Attend the Misako Rocks! manga drawing workshop

Misako Rocks!, an illustrator and youth novel author, is hosting a manga drawing workshop at Manitowoc Public Library, 707 Quay St., from 1 to 2 p.m. Sept. 30.

Teens are invited to register now for this interactive, high-energy workshop where they’ll be led through a step-by-step process to create their own original manga characters.

The Manitowoc International Relations Association will also be at the library sharing more information about the City of Manitowoc’s 30-year sister city relationship with Kamogawa, Japan.

2. Celebrate the fall season at Farm Wisconsin

Feel the festive, fall vibes at Farm Wisconsin Discovery Center, 7001 Gass Lake Road, this weekend!

Sept. 30, they’re hosting Fall Fest, where families can explore fruits, vegetables and feed crops that are harvested in the fall through hands-on experiences.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees can wade through a replica cranberry bog, make friends with goats, meet the 76th Alice in Dairyland and much more.

In addition, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., you can shop cranberries, cheese, fudge and other tasty items at their Wisconsin Fall Market.

3. Check out the Rahr-West Art Museum’s newest exhibit

Oct. 1, “Inspired by the Museum Collection: Utility Boxes in Manitowoc,” the newest exhibit at the Rahr-West Art Museum, 610 N. Eighth St., opens.

This exhibit will feature the works in the Rahr’s permanent collection that inspired local artists’ utility box designs over the past couple years.

In addition, over the weekend, you can also view the newest addition to the museum’s East Lawn: Makili, a bronze sculpture by artist Deborah Butterfield.

4. Sip at Sabbatical Brewing Co. with your top dog

Join the Lakeshore Humane Society, humans and pups at Sabbatical Brewing Company, 835 S. 29th St., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 29 for the “Last Leg of the Race” — a live voting, parade your pet opportunity to make a final push on getting your pooch on the next Sabbatical NEW Top Dog can!

In addition to the live voting and chance for a human handler to win The Hiatus, their 24-pour party flight, there will be dog treats, human snacks and donations are encouraged to “stuff the van” for LHS.

5. Watch Let Me Be Frank’s latest show

Let Me Be Frank Productions returns to the Capitol Civic Centre stage at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 to present “Fort Howard: We Wipe America.”

Featuring 1970s music, this show features a group of factory employees from Fort Howard who are close to receiving a party at the Zodiac Club from their boss for successfully making it 100 days without a work-related injury.

Tickets are $30 and $35, plus fees and tax, and can be purchased at the Capitol Civic Centre, https://cccshows.org/let-me-be-frank-fort-howard-we-wipe-america/.
