Maneet Chauhan's Nashville-based Chinese restaurant Tansuo to close

Tansuo — Maneet Chauhan's contemporary Chinese restaurant — is the latest Nashville restaurant to announce its closure.

The 12th Ave. N. restaurant, which opened in the spring of 2017 with modern takes on Chinese classics from Nashville-based Indian-American chef Chauhan, will hold its last day of service Jan. 14.

In a statement issued by Morph Hospitality Group, which includes Chauhan, Vivek Deora, Chauhan's husband and CEO, and CFO Kevin Woods, she said the group opted not to renew Tansuo's lease.

The statement cited ongoing losses in a post-pandemic business climate and a desire to redirect the group's focus to growth and new ventures.

"I've always loved what we've created at Tansuo, but unfortunately, its chapter must come to a close," Chauhan said in a statement.

"While our other concepts continue to thrive, Tansuo has not seen enough demand in the last few years to be sustainable and we've been operating with a highly reduced staff," the statement continued. "While we will miss Tansuo, we'd like to thank both our staff and our patrons over the years for all of their support."

Chauhan Ale & Masala House and Mockingbird remain open, and the team also indicated that they plan to grow hospitality holdings elsewhere, noting the recent opening of eet by Maneet at Disney Springs in Orlando.

"We are also looking forward to welcoming a new Nashville neighbor when the time comes, and are confident that a fresh concept will do well here in our North Gulch neighborhood," the statement said.
