Forget candy. Mandy Moore is all about a surprising — yet apparently delicious — new treat. The bad news? It’s not the easiest thing to find. While the This Is Us star has easy Hollywood access to a wide array of milk alternatives (oat milk? Old news), there’s one that’ reigns supreme for the actress, and it’s something she discovered during a recent hiking trip to Mount Everest.

Moore discovered a thing called yak milk (yup, yak milk) while staying in tea houses in Nepal’s Khumbu Valley.

“They have yak milk tea, which I became obsessed with and wanted to, like, open a yak farm when I got home,” Moore revealed during a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I’m like, ‘I’m obsessed with yak milk!'”

Yak milk is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think about what you’ll discover on a far-flung trip — but while Moore was obviously impressed by the rest of her adventurous getaway (she even trekked into Mount Everest’s base camp, though she clarified that she did not actually climb Mount Everest), yak milk seemed to have left the most lasting impression.

“It’s delicious,” she raved of the beverage. “Cow’s milk hurts my stomach, but yak’s milk was fine.”

Of course, yak milk wasn’t the only thing the multi-hyphenate discussed. While it’s been ten years since Moore released music (do you feel old? ‘Cause we feel old), she revealed that she’s “nearly done” with a new record.

Of course, it all came back to yak milk eventually.

“I’ve been doing this for 20 years now, I feel like an old woman,” Moore said of her show business career.

“Must be the yak milk that’s really brought you back to life,” Kimmel quipped

Moore agreed. “It fortified me, yes,” she said.

So there you have it. Will yak milk become the new must-have cow’s milk alternative? If so, we know one celeb who’ll be pretty pleased.
