Mandy Moore Says 'This Is Us' Stars Shed 'Tears' Reuniting to Mourn Ron Cephas Jones: 'We Love You'

"Before the tears, we broke bread," Moore wrote, adding, "I love this family forever"

The cast of This Is Us reunited recently to celebrate the life of Ron Cephas Jones.

In a group photo shared to her Instagram Story on Sunday, Mandy Moore posed sat around a dinner table with Chris Sullivan, Sterling K. Brown, Susan Kelechi Watson and Jon Huertas after gathering to remember their late costar and friend.

"Before the tears, we broke bread,” she captioned the post. “I love this family forever. And we love you, Ron."

Jones died at age 66 on Aug.19, due to a “long-standing pulmonary issue,” a rep confirmed to PEOPLE.

“Ron’s inner-beauty and soul was evident to the huge audience from his multi-Emmy award winning performance on This Is Us,” the statement read. "He is survived by his daughter Jasmine Cephas Jones."

Shortly after the news, the cast of the NBC drama shared their respective tributes to Jones on Instagram.

“Life imitated art today, and one of the most wonderful people the world has ever seen is no longer with us,” Brown, who played Jones’ long-lost biological son, wrote in his touching post. “@cephasjaz has passed away, and the world is a little less bright. Brother, you are loved. And you will be missed.”

“Keep them laughing in the next phase of existence, and I’ll see you when I get there. ❤️✌🏿✊🏿,” he added, sharing a still of himself and Jones from This Is Us.

Moore wrote in her own post honoring Jones, “Getting to know and work with Ron on the wild ride of ‘This Is Us’ was the greatest gift. He was pure magic as a human and an artist…I will treasure all of the moments forever.”

“Even though he wasn’t around set as much as we all wished, he was such an intrinsic part of the fabric of the show, it’s like he was always there,” Moore, 39, continued alongside a photo of the duo in the penultimate episode. “I’ll never forget how special it was to film this particular episode and welcome him back to say a proper goodbye to our TIU family and the whole experience. I am just so sad."

"My thoughts and love are with Jasmine and his family and friends. Love you, @cephasjaz,” the actress concluded.

Sullivan also paid tribute to Jones on Instagram, writing, “I cannot believe he is gone! It doesn’t seem possible. He was such a generous and compassionate heart. I am so grateful for the time we spent together. #RIPRCJ.”

Huertas, 53, marveled over the late actor’s talent in his tribute, “Ron, you were one of the most talented and warm men I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.” 

“So giving, both personally and artistically. You will be missed not only by me but the world will miss your spirit," he continued. "But the remarkable gift of having you grace our stages and screens will live on in our hearts forever.Love ya @cephasjaz…you’re on to the next performance."
