Mandy Moore Says She's 'Elated to Step Into This Next Decade' as She Celebrates Her 40th Birthday

The actress entered a new decade on April 10 after a star-studded birthday party over the weekend

Mandy Moore is 40 and thriving!

On Wednesday, April 10, the actress marked her milestone birthday with a reflective post on Instagram, sharing photos from her star-studded birthday celebration over the weekend and commemorating her entrance into her 40th year.

“Elated to step into this next decade with purpose, intention and gratitude for all that it has in store,” Moore began the lengthy caption. “As one who doesn’t LOVE parties, this birthday called for some sort of celebration and @taylordawesgoldsmith really heeded the call with a night of music (I insisted he play a few) along with our beloved favorite @themikeviola.”

The party, which she had posted about on her Instagram Stories on April 8, took place at The Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, and saw guests like Moore’s husband, Taylor Goldsmith, and Hilary Duff join the This Is Us star to celebrate.

In her caption, she gave full credit to Goldsmith, 38, who she called “the love of my life” as he had put the event “together,” recruited a designer to create “the raddest party swag” and culminated his efforts by writing his wife a song for the occasion, which she said “brought the house down in tears.”

In the last slide of her post, Moore shared a demo of the Dawes lead singer’s initial musings for the song, which he wrote on the piano in their home. In the clip, Goldsmith sings about their first date and the months that “blew by” afterwards, as he continues, “I asked you to show me how to deal with loving you this much.”

“I can’t wait for this next season and all the ones after, by your side, @taylordawesgoldsmith,” she concluded the caption. “Yay to reaching the fourth floor- I like the view from up here!! 💓💓💓💓💓.”

The comments of Moore’s post quickly filled with tributes from many of her A-list friends, including Chelsea Handler, Rachel Bilson and Alison Brie.

Her former costar, Chrissy Metz, wrote, “Happy Birthday, Mandyyyyyy! Cheers to an amazing year!! 🎉✨🍾🎊.”

Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, commented too, calling Moore’s birthday party “the best night of my life” as he wished her a “Happy birthday.”

Goldsmith, who wed Moore in 2018 and shares sons Gus and Ozzie with her, also showered his wife with love on social media, called her his “favorite human being” in an Instagram post.

“Thanks for showing me and everyone else we know how to live life with such kindness, grace, intention, and selflessness (sometimes too a fault - lemme clean up the boy’s dinner while YOU watch the first 10 minutes of Cars for a change),” he wrote in the caption as he shared a carousel of photos with Moore and of her with their sons.

“There’s no way I’ll ever be able to properly pay you back for the love, the joy and the meaning you’ve brought to my life. But I’ll never stop trying,” he continued.

“I love you so much it hurts. I hope this birthday is the absolute best one yet. And I’m sorry Gus keeps wishing me a happy birthday instead of you.”

The last slide of the post featured a hilarious photoshop attempt at positing Goldsmith's face on the body of a Calvin Klein underwear model, which he called “my gift to you” in the caption.

In a post on her Instagram Stories on April 8, Moore reposted a friend's photo of Goldsmith performing at the birthday party, writing, "Of course @taylordawesgoldsmith serenaded the birthday girl with a brand new song that brought everyone to tears."

Writing over the post, Moore added, "I didn't have my phone out the whole night... just soaked it in but thanks for capturing this."

In a photo shared by Duff, 36, on her Instagram Stories, Goldsmith and Moore shared a sweet kiss after his performance, with Duff writing over the photo, "the song was perfection."
