Mandalay Sports Media’s ‘Here’s The Rub’ Gets Go90 Premiere Date

Mandalay Sports Media’s new digital series Here’s The Rub starring comedian Andrew Santino will debut on Verizon’s go90 service on November 16, the companies said today. The offbeat sports comedy stars Santino as track-suit-clad Russian talk show host Nikolai Popov interviewing pro athletes about pop culture, lifestyle, music, sports in segments featuring plenty of twists and turns.

The first episode features Washington All-Pro cornerback Josh Norman at a horse ranch. Topics: his New York Giants rival Odell Beckham Jr, his trade from the Carolina Panthers, and his love for movies spawning an acting lesson and shooting a scene from a Western.

New episodes will be released each Wednesday. Guests this season include the NFL’s Calais Campbell; hoopsters Nick Young, Mike Conley Jr, Kenneth Faried and Brian Scalabrine; Game Of Thrones “The Mountain” actor Hafthor Julius Bjornsson; surfer/model Anastasia Ashley; skateboarder Paul Rodriguez; and the WNBA’s Skylar Diggins.

Mandalay Sports’ John Hirsch and Ron Yassen created the series and are executive producing with Santino.

“What’s fun on Here’s The Rub is how we were able to create and then thrust an original character into the world of athletes and get a uniquely genuine and fun response from the biggest names in the game,” Santino said. “We really believe in what go90 is doing in sports and comedy, which makes us that much more excited for this series.”
