Man wins $2 million after receiving wrong lottery ticket
A Michigan man caught a lucky break when he received the wrong lottery ticket at a gas station and ended up winning $2 million, the Michigan Lottery announced on July 14.
The man, who chose to remain anonymous but resides in Macomb County, had stopped by a BP gas station to get some change.

“I stopped to put air in my wife’s truck tire and I needed some change for the machine,” the 57-year-old said. “I went in to get change and asked for a $10 Lucky 7’s ticket. The clerk handed me the $20 ticket by mistake.”
Though the clerk offered to swap out the ticket for the correct one, the player said his gut told him to keep the ticket.
“He offered to exchange it for me, but something told me to keep it,” he said. “I am sure glad I did!”
According to the Lottery, the man dropped by its headquarters to claim his prize in a lump sum payment of $1.3 million (rather than receiving his money in annuity payments for the total amount). He said he would use the money to buy a new home and save the remainder.
Earlier this month, a Virginia woman similarly struck gold when she played a Lucky 7s Tripler game after arguing with her boyfriend.
