Man Sues Woman For Texting During Date Night At The Movies

A potential couple’s relationship quickly turned sour after this bizarre gesture. According to CNN, Brandon Vezmar filed a lawsuit against an unidentified woman after she was texting for 15 minutes during their date night at the movies.

In the middle of a Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 screening, the Texan said his date “activated her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages, in direct violation of the theater’s policy.” The settlement he’s vying for? The price of the 3-D movie ticket, which was $17.31.

“It’s principled action against a person who exhibited really insulting behavior towards me and towards everyone else,” Vezmar said. He added that texting in the theater is one of his biggest pet peeves.

In a phone interview with the 35-year-old woman, the Austin-American Statesman revealed that she was texting her friend who had domestic issues with her boyfriend at the time. “I had my phone low and I wasn’t bothering anybody,” she said. “It wasn’t like constant texting.”

While Vezmar believes the reimbursement he’s seeking is relatively moderate, “the principle is important as defendant’s behavior is a threat to civilized society,” his petition states.
