Security guard shot outside of Drake’s Toronto home

A security guard remains in the hospital after being shot outside of Drake’s Toronto estate Tuesday morning.

In an initial post to X, formerly Twitter, police said they responded to a shooting in the area of Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East at around 2:09 a.m. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Police say there is no description of the suspect or the getaway vehicle.

The victim was transported to the hospital with “serious injuries.”

In an update hours later, police said the shooting occurred “outside of a residence on Park Lane Circle” and the “man shot was a security guard who was standing outside the gates, outside of the home.”

The area is known as The Bridle Path, an upscale neighborhood in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, comprising multimillion-dollar mansions. The “Push Ups” rapper famously owns a 50,000-square-foot estate in the affluent part of the city.

Law enforcement has recovered video of the shooting, Inspector Paul Krawczyk told reporters in a news conference.

Krawczyk would not say if Drake was home during the time of the shooting.

The shooting comes as the artist is embroiled in a rap feud with Compton native Kendrick Lamar.

Lamar recently highlighted Drizzy’s home for the album cover of his diss track “Not Like Us.” It features an aerial view of the massive home with over a dozen red sex offender symbols around it.

The home was already searchable online before the “Humble” rapper released the single.

Police say it’s unclear if the shooting had anything to do with the beef between the two men.

“I cannot speak to a motive at this time, because it’s so early, but as we get information we will share it with you,” Krawczyk said.

This happened as Drake’s London OVO store was vandalized according to Hot New Hip-Hop. Photos have been posted to social media of graffiti spray painted over the store’s windows that read “Not Like Us,” the title of K. Dot’s diss track towards the “6 God.”

OVO, short for October’s Very Own, is the lifestyle brand founded by Drake, born Aubrey Drake Graham, and his business partners Oliver El-Khatib and Noah “40” Shebib.

KTLA 5 has contacted Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s teams for comment, but has not been given a response.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call 416-808-2510 or Crime Stoppers.
