Sheriff's detectives are investigating after a man was shot twice at a gas station in Hesperia.

A man was shot twice following an argument at a Hesperia gas station, according to San Bernardino County sheriff's officials.

Around 9 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to the report of a shooting at the 7-Eleven gas station located in the 12700 block of Main Street. The 7-Eleven is located on the corner of Main Street and Key Pointe Drive, west of Interstate 15.

Soon after the initial call, dispatchers got an additional call from a woman at the Pilot Travel Center on Highway 395, who reported that her boyfriend had been shot at a nearby gas station.

When deputies arrived at Pilot Travel Center, they found a man suffering from two gunshot wounds. Both incidents were related, sheriff's officials said.

The injured man was taken to an area hospital by paramedics and later airlifted to a trauma center, where he is listed in critical condition.

During the investigation, deputies learned that the victim and two Hispanic men were arguing inside the 7/11 gas station. The victim and the two suspects left the store and both parties walked to their vehicles at the gas pumps.

The victim and his girlfriend were driving in a blue Honda CRV, and the suspects were in a white Kia Stinger with no plates.

Detectives haven't say why, but while at the gas pumps, the victim approached the two suspects with a stun-baton device in his hand. One of the suspects retaliated and shot the victim. The Kia then fled the scene westbound on Main Street, according to deputies.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available.
