Man Says Living With Bulimia ‘Feels Like A Prison Sentence’

Dustin, 33, is a professional cook who admits he binges constantly and purges dozens of times a day. He says he’s been living with bulimia since he was 17. “I did it to lose weight, and then I realized I could eat as much as I wanted,” he says. “The amount of food I eat could feed Africa – no joke.” He says that at 6 feet tall, he weighs around 120 lbs. Dustin compares having bulimia and working as a cook in a restaurant to letting someone with alcohol dependency work in a brewery. “They’re going to drink as soon as they see it. I eat as soon as I get there and don’t stop until I leave. [I] throw up the entire time I’m at work.” Dustin says he’s sick of being bulimic. “It takes up my whole day,” he says. “It feels like a prison sentence.” This episode of Dr. Phil, "Battles of a Bulimic Cook," airs Thursday.
