Man On Death Row For 25 Years Says He Is Innocent – And Claims He Has The Facts To Prove It

In March 1997, two men wearing ski masks and armed with rifles entered a St. Louis bank, began shooting, and killed a security guard, before one man stole money from a cash drawer. The thieves lost control of their getaway van, and it went up in flames. One suspect was caught at the scene. The next day, 19-year-old Billie Allen was arrested and charged. He was convicted and has been on death row for 25 years. However, Allen maintains he is innocent and says he has an alibi and evidence to prove it. “I never asked anyone to believe that I’m innocent; I’ve always asked people to let me show you,” says Allen. “If you’re going to kill me, you’re going to show society that you killed an innocent person.” In the video above from Monday’s episode of Dr. Phil, “Families Fighting For Freedom,” hear what Allen says are facts that prove he is not the killer. Also, hear from Allen’s sister, Yvette, who says she quit her job and has made it her life’s purpose to prove her brother’s innocence and free him. On Monday, hear more about Allen’s case. And, Dr. Phil speaks with a mother whose son is serving 25 years to life for a crime they both claim he didn’t commit. Check local listings to see where you can watch.
