Man charged in Brittanee Drexel case set to appear in court this month

A man charged in the Brittanee Drexel case is set to appear in court later this month, according to a news release from 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Raymond Moody, 62, will appear in court on Oct. 19 at 10 a.m, the press release states.

Moody is charged with murder, kidnapping and first degree criminal sexual conduct, according to the Georgetown County booking records.

Moody was arrested in May on an obstruction of justice charge and remains incarcerated as of Wednesday.

Drexel was reported missing from Myrtle Beach in 2009 when she was 17 years old. She was visiting the area from New York with friends. Her remains were found in May -- 13 years after she went missing.

Drexel’s case has attracted national attention since her disappearance, appearing on numerous true crime shows and an episode of CNN’s “Real Life Nightmares” in 2020.
