Man Admits He’s Chosen Alcohol And Addiction Over Wife And Kids

Jonah, a father of three, says he is addicted to prescription drugs and drinking alcohol, and it’s causing problems in his family. He says he has no relationship with his 15-year-old stepdaughter, Brinley, because he promises to stop using, and he doesn’t. He also admits he has put two of his younger daughters in danger. “I’m afraid to stop because I’m afraid to get sick or withdrawal,” Jonah says. “My addiction’s made me very selfish.” Jonah’s wife, Cassie, has kicked him out of their home and has taken on all the parenting responsibilities. “I want to get better for my family,” Jonah says. “I’m desperate to do anything to get sober.” Dr. Phil questions Jonah about his comment that he would rather stay addicted than deal with the side effects of getting sober. Hear Jonah’s explanation in the video above – and see Cassie’s response.
