Redding police were called after two men were seen rolling on the ground in a parking lot near El Delicioso Burrito in the 1200 block of Churn Creek Road at 8:58 a.m. on Friday, according to a dispatch on local police radio.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested 61-year-old Samuel Gibson of Redding, according to Redding Police Sgt. Josiah Ferrin.

Police said Gibson is accused of choking a 60-year-old man, who was not named. Police said Gibson was stopped by a 32-year-old Redding resident, Robert Milton.

After Milton yelled during the confrontation, Gibson released his grip on the man, Ferrin said. Milton remained with both men until police arrived, said Ferrin. Milton also identified Gibson as the aggressor, Ferrin said.

Milton told the Record Searchlight that he was buying a burrito at the restaurant when he came across the scuffle.

"As I came around the second time, I saw that one of the men's faces was a bright pink color," Milton said.

Gibson was booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The 60-year-old man was taken for "precautionary reasons" to Mercy Medical Center in stable condition, Ferrin said.
