Malayalam superstar Mammootty is returning to the action genre with his upcoming movie Turbo. The actor was seen taking up several unique roles in his last few outings. He played a sinister role in Bramayugam and received immense praise. On the other hand, his portrayal of a homosexual man in Kaathal: The Core left everyone in awe of his acting skills. While his upcoming movie is touted to be an action entertainer, it is allegedly made on a whopping budget.

Turbo is Mammootty’s most expensive movie?

It is evident that Malayalam star Mammootty has been focusing on content-driven movies. Several filmmakers have confirmed that the actor is always open to good scripts. However, the actor is finally set to do his most expensive movie. OTTplay has revealed that reports say Turbo’s budget is a whopping $7.18 million. Moreover, it is also one of the highest-budget movies in the Malayalam cinema.

Helmed by Vysakh, Mammootty is himself producing the film under the banner Mammootty Kampany. Moreover, Dulquer Salmaan’s production house is responsible for the movie’s distribution. The movie also stars Sunil, Anjana Jayaprakash, Kabir Duhan Singh, Raj B Shetty, Johny Antony, and more.

So far, the makers of the movie have unveiled several details. The anticipation around the movie grew to manifolds with the release of its trailer. It features Mammootty doing several action sequences and a lot of crime against what he would be seen fighting. The trailer teased that the movie would be filled with dramatic turns. It allegedly follows the story of Turbo Jose, whose life takes a drastic turn when he has to move to Chennai. The movie’s trailer is below:

The movie was earlier scheduled to release in June. However, its makers preponed the movie’s release to May 23, 2024. The film is the third outing for Mammootty of 2024.
