Mamma Mia! 3 does not have an official release date at the time of writing as the film is yet to receive the green light. However, the film will eventually happen as the producer of the Mamma Mia! film series Judy Craymer, always envisioned Mamma Mia! as a trilogy. Moreover, Craymer revealed in an interview with Deadline in May 2023, that the film is close to being given the green light.

However, owing to the ongoing strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA members, the green light for Mamma Mia! 3 is likely being put on hold until the issues related to the strikes are resolved.

Thus, from all of this information, Mamma Mia! 3’s release date can be narrowed down to 2025. This is because it might be 2024 by the time the strikes end, and once the greenlight is given, development, filming, and post-production would take place for over a year before the film hits big screens all over the world in 2025.

The 2025 date is an estimation based on the information we have at the time of this writing.

Nothing is known about Mamma Mia! 3’s cast as the film has not yet been greenlit. However, the film will very likely bring back Meryl Streep as Donna Sheridan in some capacity if Judy Craymer has a say, even though Donna died at the end of the second film. The film could also bring back Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried, Lily James, Stellan Skarsgard, Colin Firth, and Dominic Cooper to reprise their roles.
