Mama June Shannon Gives Update on Daughter Anna's Two Girls After Her Death (Exclusive)

Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell died in December and is survived by her daughters Kaitlyn and Kylee

Mama June Shannon is giving an update on her family following the death of Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the Mama June: Family Crisis star, 44, shared where her granddaughters Kaitlyn Elizabeth, 8, and Kylee Madison, 11, have been living since their mom Anna died in December due to stage 4 cancer.

"Kaitlyn currently lives with me and Justin [Stroud]. Then, Kylee, she lives with her biological father, but we all knew that," Shannon explains. "People will see that also probably they're talking about the situation as the season goes along."

Anna shares Kylee with ex-husband Michael Cardwell. The father of her older daughter has not yet been revealed.

In December, Anna's husband Eldridge Toney shared more about her final days, including a promise he made to his late wife about her two daughters.

"The day before she passed, we had our talk and said our goodbyes," Toney told PEOPLE at the time. "Her dying wish was for her girls to grow up knowing who their mother was. And I promised I would do right by the girls always. I will spend my life doing right by Anna and the girls."

“Those are my girls,” Toney said of Anna's daughters. “I promised Anna I would do right by them and make sure they remembered their mama. And that is what I will do.”

The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alum died at age 29 on Dec. 9, less than a year after a stage 4 adrenal carcinoma diagnosis. As she shared her daughter's death on Instagram, Shannon included a photograph of her entire family and wrote, "With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM."

"She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her like she won’t and we will be updating y’all with more information as we get it today," added Shannon.
