It's Angelina Jolie vs. Michelle Pfeiffer in the 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil' trailer and fans are all over it: 'I have chills'

In these divisive times, here’s something everyone can agree on: Put Angelina Jolie and Michelle Pfeiffer in the same movie and people will come. The first teaser trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil — the sequel to Disney’s hit 2014 re-telling of its carton classic, Sleeping Beauty — premiered yesterday, and the promise of seeing Jolie and Pfeiffer together for the first time is driving Twitter wild.

Picking up several years after the original film, Mistress of Evil — due in theaters on Oct. 18 — finds Maleficent reuniting with Sleeping Beauty herself, Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning), as she’s on the cusp of becoming queen. Pfeiffer plays Queen Ingrith, the royal mother of Aurora’s suitor, Prince Phillip (Harris Dickinson, taking over a role originated by Brenton Thwaites). While Ingrith doesn’t look particularly pleased to have a wickedly stylish witch visiting her castle, fans are thrilled to see Jolie back in black.

People are also happy that, based on the title, Maleficent is fully embracing her evil side in this outing. They’re even comparing the snap of her wings to Thanos’s snap of the gauntlet.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil opens in theaters on Oct. 18.
