Madonna spends Thanksgiving at Brooklyn LGBTQ youth homeless center
Madonna, a longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community, took time during the Thanksgiving holiday to spend time with the youth of the Ali Forney Center in Brooklyn.
“This center protects LGBT Youth from the harms of homelessness and empowers them to reclaim their lives,” the “Material Girl” wrote on Instagram alongside a photo from her visit. “Each year the Ali Forney Center provides care for over 1,200 youth who are rejected by their family due to their LGBT identity.”
She added, “AFC provides these youth with tools they need to become independent and more importantly, AFC provides these youth with the love and support they are denied by their families. Because everyone deserves to be loved and everyone deserves a home.”

Madonna also used her stardom to highlight another issue on Thanksgiving: the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota, where hundreds are protesting its development.
“It’s Ironic that we are celebrating Thanksgiving, while Native American’s are being Tear Gassed and Shot with Rubber Bullets and Water Hoses at this very moment,” she wrote. “WTF. How can this be happening??”

Madonna joins a growing list of celebrities protesting the pipeline construction on Native American land, including Shailene Woodley, who was arrested at the protest on Oct. 10 for criminal trespassing, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Neil Young. The Justice League cast — Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, and Ezra Miller — also made a video to support Rezpect Our Water, an organization protesting the pipeline construction.
