Madonna will cap off her “Celebration Tour” in appropriate fashion by staging the biggest concert of her career at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil on Saturday, May 4th.
The concert will be free of charge “as a thank you to her fans for celebrating more than four decades of her music.” For those unable to be there in person, Madonna’s performance will also be aired live on TV Globo.
Rod Stewart’s 1994 New Year’s Eve concert at Copacabana Beach currently holds the record for the most attended concert of all time with an estimated audience of 4.2 million people. When The Rolling Stones played Copacabana Beach in 2006, more than 1.5 million people turned out to watch.
Madonna’s visit to Rio marks the culmination of her “Celebration Tour,” which commemorates her four decades in music. In the coming weeks, she has shows scheduled in Houston, Atlanta, Miami, and Austin, as well as Mexico City, where she’ll headline four nights at Palacio De Los Deportes. You can find tickets to her upcoming tour dates here.
