Pop icon Madonna recently opened up about the harrowing health crisis that led to her being placed in an induced coma for 48 hours due to lung and kidney failure.

The Queen of Pop was meant to go on her celebration tour in July, but it had to be placed on hold after her manager announced at the time that she had contracted a "serious bacterial infection."

Madonna thanked her friend and her Kabbalah teacher for supporting her through the ordeal, as she credited them for "saving her life."

During her performance at her celebration tour in Brooklyn, New York, Saturday night, the music legend took to the stage to share the details of her health scare with fans, stating that she was on the brink of a serious medical emergency.

Madonna revealed that she suffered a bacterial infection back in June and was placed in an induced coma for 48 hours. According to a source who spoke to Radar Online at the time of the incident, she allegedly suffered septic shock and had to be revived with a Narcan injection.

The treatment is used in emergency medical situations to reverse the effects of a suspected overdose and is also used to reverse acute septic shock in patients. It is considered useful to increase blood pressure in the management of septic shock, a life-threatening condition that happens when blood pressure drops to a dangerously low level.

The "Material Girl" singer has since emerged from the health scare and expressed her gratitude to her friend and her Kabbalah teacher for their unwavering support during the challenging time.

"There are some very important people in the room tonight that were with me at the hospital," Madonna announced on stage as she gave a shoutout to her friend, Shavawn. "There's one very important woman who dragged me to the hospital."

"I don't even remember; I passed out on my bathroom floor and woke up in the ICU... I was in an induced coma for 48 hours. She saved my life. Thank you Shavawn," she added.

She also expressed her gratitude to her Kabbalah teacher, noting that his voice was "the only voice I heard" when she was in a coma, as he told her to "squeeze my hand." The Kabbalah is a form of Jewish mysticism that Madonna has been associated with since 1996.

According to People, fans were in for a surprise at an earlier celebration tour stop in Brooklyn, New York, as the singer was joined onstage by none other than her boyfriend, Josh Popper.

Popper joined Madonna on stage to serve as a judge during her performance of her 1990 classic, "Vogue." They sat beside each other and held up scorecards as dancers did their thing. At some point, they even kissed, throwing fans at the Barclays Center into a frenzy of excitement.

For the musical moment, Madonna rocked a shiny silver fitted costume with silver heels, while her boxer boyfriend went casual with a black t-shirt that had a "Diplomats Decide" graphic print on it, and jeans.

Popper also had a moment at the show when he appeared in a video that played on the big screen as the singer performed her 1992 song, "Erotica." The couple went Instagram official in February and have since been spotted at several events together.

During her performance at the Barclays Center in NY, the iconic singer stirred controversy as she locked lips with a topless dancer onstage before being joined by her 11-year-old daughter, Estere, per the Daily Mail.

Estere donned a yellow outfit and black boots for the performance as her mom rocked several sizzling and revealing costumes during the Brooklyn stop of her tour, which is a tribute to her 40-year-long career as she performs an ambitious 45-song setlist.

Madonna was also joined on stage by her other children, such as Lourdes Leon, David Banda, and James. At some point, she joked about having to "almost die" before she could get all six of her children "in one room" together.

The singer is mom to Lourdes Leon, 26, Rocco Ritchie, 23, David Banda, 18, Chifundo 'Mercy' James, 17, and twins Stella and Estere, 11.

The celebration tour will see her travel across the U.S. and Canada, with five shows scheduled at Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, Mexico, bringing an end to the tour on April 26, 2024.
