Madonna says she wore Frida Kahlo’s clothing, jewelry at artist’s family home in Mexico

"For me, it was magical to try on her clothes and jewelry," Madonna wrote. The Frida Kahlo Museum tells EW that Madonna was not at the famous Blue House.
Madonna might've just headlined the biggest concert of her career in front of an audience of 1.6 million people, but she's still chasing personal highs related to her ultimate inspiration: legendary artist Frida Kahlo.
The pop icon revealed Monday that she visited Kahlo's family home in Mexico, where she tried on the artist's clothing and jewelry after repeatedly crediting the influential figure — who died in 1954 — for inspiring Madonna's creativity for decades.

Madonna; Frida Kahlo"A Beautiful Souvenir -visiting the family home of my Eternal Muse -Frida Kahlo.In Mexico City," Madonna wrote on Instagram alongside photos of herself viewing photographs and wearing a green top that reportedly belonged to Kahlo.
Madonna said it was "magical to try on her clothes and jewelry, to read her journals and letters and to look at photos I’d never seen before," and further posted shots of herself opening a small golden mirror and viewing a pair of Kahlo's black heeled shoes.
The performer did not specify the exact location she visited, though the house Kahlo lived in — known as the Blue House — currently exists as part of the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City. When reached for comment, a spokesperson for the Frida Kahlo Museum tells Entertainment Weekly that Madonna "did not visit the Blue House during her recent visit to Mexico. Hence, the images shared on her Instagram account were not taken in our facilities."
The statement continues, noting that "Frida's clothing and jewelry that is kept in the museum are under strict conservation measures and are not loaned for personal use. The items that appear in Madonna's posts are not part of the Frida Kahlo Museum collection."
A press release the museum distributed on Monday indicated that Madonna's family and staff visited the museum, though the recording artist did not. "We are proud that Madonna finds inspiration in Frida Kahlo and shares it on her platforms, which undoubtedly helps spread the richness of Mexican culture," the release read. "We would like to clarify that the clothes, photos, and objects posted on social networks do not belong to or form part of 'La Casa Azul' collection."
EW has reached out to representatives for Madonna for comment.

Madonna has long cited Kahlo as one of her biggest inspirations, with many even observing visual similarities to Kahlo on the cover of Madonna's 2019 album Madame X.
On her recent Celebration tour stop in Mexico, Madonna brought Salma Hayek — who portrayed Kahlo in the 2002 film Frida — onstage to help judge the "Vogue" portion of the concert.
During the performance, Hayek wore an outfit that nodded to Kahlo's style of dress.
