Madelaine Petsch has known her boyfriend for over 10 years

Madelaine Petsch and her boyfriend Anthony Li were friends for nine years before starting a relationship.

The two were first photographed together walking to a Valentino fashion show in Paris in 2022. Petsch officially confirmed their relationship in August 2023 on her Instagram Stories, revealing they’d known each other for many years.

"It's been a cute 9 years of knowing you,” she wrote. “But even cuter 1 year of dating you."

While Petsch and Li have kept their relationship mostly private, the Riverdale actress does show her admiration for her partner on social media from time to time. To commemorate 10 years of knowing each other, Petsch posted a series of pictures and videos with Li in February 2024.

One image included a screenshot of their text messages, with Petsch asking Li, “How do i say i’m celebrating 10 years of knowing you today without confusing the internet.” He wrote back, “Say ‘finally let this one bust out of the friendzone and i’ve never been happier !!!!’ ” teasing at their long-term friendship.

They were first spotted together in October 2022

During a 2022 Valentino fashion show in Paris, Petsch was spotted walking to the event with Li. In a November Instagram post, Petsch shared a series of photos that referenced their first public outing. One of the photos in the series was a picture of herself and Li with a Paris geotag.

Since then, Petsch’s relationship with Li has been teased on various social platforms. Petsch and her Riverdale costar Camila Mendes posted a TikTok in January 2023 with text that read, “When you realize your boyfriends are becoming best friends.”

The TikTok video showcased a video of both Petsch and Mendes enjoying a meal while their boyfriends were talking about The Batman.

Madelaine has known Anthony for over 10 years

While it’s unclear just how Petsch and Li met, they’ve known each other for at least 10 years.

Petsch shared a carousel of images and pictures of the happy couple on Instagram in February 2024. On the final slide, Petsch shared an image of a handwritten piece of paper that read, “This is the best time of my life,” adorned with two stick figure humans and a small dog.

Anthony is Halsey’s manager

Li is no stranger to the entertainment industry. He became one of Halsey’s managers alongside Jason Aron in 2014.

He grew up in Long Island and Halsey in New Jersey, with the two meeting via the music scene in New York City. After meeting Li, Halsey asked him if he could pretend to be her manager at label meetings — a fib that quickly became their reality.

Halsey is incredibly grateful for the “support” both Li and Jason have given her.

"All I know is I met two guys that within 48 hours of knowing me decided that they had enough faith in me to put all of their time, energy, and finances on the line to support something that they thought was going to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others," Halsey told Forbes in a 2017 interview. "They had more faith in me than I had in myself."

He’s been on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list

In 2017, Li and Aron were featured on Forbes 30 Under 30 list for music. Their recognition came from being the managers of Halsey since the beginning of her career.

Li initially tapped Aron to work with them on Halsey’s 2015 debut “Badlands,” which went on to sell over 1 million copies. Throughout her initial years as an artist, Halsey would often sleep on Li's couch when needed. Eventually, she signed a deal with Capital Records that changed their lives.

“I owed them so much money when I signed my deal,” said Halsey of the duo. “To be able to turn that investment into a lucrative business and a passionate lifestyle for all three of us ... there’s no better reward than that.”

In 2015, Halsey sold out Madison Square Garden and Li said that the secret to her success was the “unconventional way” she approached her career.

“My generation is obsessed with the influencers, the tastemakers,” he told Forbes. “But I think that’s the wrong focus. The innovators of my generation will be the ones who will be remembered. The people who did it the unconventional way.”

Anthony planned a special event for Madelaine’s 29th birthday

Petsch revealed on her TikTok that Li planned a special activity to celebrate her 29th birthday. As a self-proclaimed fan of CBS’ The Amazing Race, Li took things into his own hands to make sure that Petsch got to experience her own version of the competitive show.

“My boyfriend put together an Amazing Race scavenger hunt with all of our best friends through the streets of Hollywood,” she said in the TikTok video that showcased clips of Petsch and her friends competing in a series of challenges similar to the reality TV series.

Anthony produced a short film

Aside from executive producing a few of Halsey’s projects, Li has also been an associate producer on a short film.

He’s credited as an associate producer of the 2023 short Eid Mubarak which was directed by Mahnoor Euceph. The short follows the story of a young Pakistani girl who aims to save her goat from being eaten.

He likes traveling

Li’s personal Instagram account consists of beautiful shots from his frequent travels.

On Aug. 31, 2021, Li posted a series of pictures geotagged at Turks and Caicos. He captioned the post “album dump pt. 1,” seemingly in accordance with Halsey’s Aug. 27, 2021 release of her fourth studio album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.
