Madea takes her final bow, Dev Patel plays David Copperfield and more of this week’s best in pop culture

Tyler Perry’s iconic character Madea takes her final bow. A filmed version of “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Farewell Play” streams exclusively Aug. 27 on BET+. The play centers around Madea’s great-grandson graduating from law school and the entire family gathering to celebrate the special occasion. Perry wrote, directed, executive produced and starred in the show that was filmed in May. Dev Patel goes on a wild ride as the Charles Dickens character David Copperfield. Patel along with Hugh Laurie and Tilda Swinton star in “The Personal History of David Copperfield.” The film is an adaptation of the Dickens classic. “To be honest I didn’t know anything about David Copperfiled,” Patel says. “When I first got the email from my agent, at quick glance, I thought it was about the magician.” “The Personal History of David Copperfield” opens Friday, Aug. 28.
