Madea Makes Ghostly Appearance on ‘Taraji’s White Hot Holidays’
On Taraji’s White Hot Holidays, there was plenty of holiday fun to go around. In fact, there was even some holiday spirit. And it came in the unmistakable form of Tyler Perry’s Madea character, who appeared as a ghost confronting the evil talent show judge Bethany Scrooge.
Scrooge was played by the show’s host, Taraji P. Henson. In the sketch, Henson’s Scrooge character was modeled after judges from shows like American Idol and The Voice. Madea takes Scrooge to the past, present, and future. In the past, Scrooge watched a younger version of herself struggle to play a musical instrument, but it wasn’t until Scrooge witnessed a future in which she was digging through dumpsters that she had a change of heart.
In addition to the Christmas Carol sketch, Taraji’s White Hot Holidays featured musical performances by artists such as Missy Elliott, D.M.C., Mary J. Blige, and Jamie Foxx. Comedians Chris Rock and Wanda Sykes also appeared in separate sketches.
