Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler have four siblings: Ryan, Tyler, Matthew and Michele

Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler come from a large blended family.

The Dance Moms sibling duo has three brothers and one sister: half-brothers Ryan and Tyler Ziegler and stepbrother and sister Matthew and Michele. Ryan and Tyler were born to Kurt Ziegler, Maddie and Mackenzie’s father, and his previous wife, before he went on to marry Melissa Ziegler.

Melissa and Kurt were married in 2000 and ended up getting divorced in 2011. Melissa went on to wed Greg Gisoni in 2013, who also had a twin son and daughter, Matthew and Michele, from a past marriage.

While Maddie and Mackenzie have stayed in the spotlight since their stint on the hit Lifetime reality dancing show, their siblings' lives are kept mostly private. The sisters often use social media to share their love for each other, keeping their relationships with their additional siblings nonpublic.

Tyler is the most virtually active of their blended family, sharing his love and admiration for his superstar sisters in old Instagram posts.

“Miss and love my sisters 😭❤️,” Tyler wrote in an Instagram post from June 2017.

Here’s everything to know about Maddie and Mackenzie’s relationship with their four siblings.

Ryan and Tyler are Maddie and Mackenzie’s half-brothers

Ryan and Tyler are Maddie and Mackenzie’s elder half-brothers, with whom they share the same father, Kurt Ziegler. Before Maddie and Mackenzie’s father Kurt married their mother Melissa, he had Ryan and Tyler from a previous marriage.

Ryan was born on May 14, 1991, roughly four years before his brother Tyler who was born on June 29, 1995.

Ryan is 11 years older than Maddie and 13 years older than Mackenzie. While Tyler is four years younger than his older brother, he’s still seven years older than Maddie and nine years older than Mackenzie.

Though the half-siblings have a few years in between them, they share a lot of love for one another. During the mid-to-late 2000s, Tyler shared numerous pictures on Instagram of himself, Ryan, Maddie and Mackenzie celebrating holidays and congratulating his sisters on their success.

“Sooooo thankful,” Tyler captioned a picture with the full Ziegler clan on Thanksgiving in 2017.

Maddie and Mackenzie revealed on their Take 20 with Maddie and Mackenzie Ziegler podcast that it was difficult for them to navigate their parents' divorce and being around the rest of the Dance Moms cast.

“We were the only ones that had split families," said Maddie. "I just felt like we weren't the picture-perfect family anymore."

Their relationship with their father shifted in 2015 when they moved from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles. Though the sisters seem to still have healthy relationships with their half-brothers, Mackenzie has shared the struggles of maintaining a relationship with her father.

“We were in L.A. and he was in Pittsburgh, so we never really got to see him,” she said on The Squeeze podcast. “Then it got to a point where it was just, like, he's not present.”

Ryan has a master's degree

The eldest Ziegler sibling earned a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. His brother, Tyler, commemorated his brother’s academic achievements in an Instagram post seemingly from Ryan’s graduation day.

“So proud of my brother for getting his masters in accounting 🎓,” Tyler captioned the image of him in a black suit next to Ryan in his cap and gown.

Ryan has one son, Elias

As the eldest Ziegler sibling, Ryan is also a father. In 2017, Ryan married his wife Camille, and the happy couple welcomed their first son, Elias, in 2019.

His younger brother Tyler expressed his excitement for becoming an uncle in an Instagram post that Maddie and Melissa also commented on.

“I’m so blessed to be an uncle and i couldn’t be happier,” Tyler wrote.

“I’m in love,” the Fitting In star commented alongside her mother’s comment of two red hearts.

Tyler got engaged to his fiancée Kaylee in 2022

Tyler announced his engagement to Kaylee McNutt in a 2022 Instagram post. The couple can be seen posing together for pictures on Tyler’s Instagram as early as June 2018.

“A couple days ago i proposed to the love of my life,” Tyler wrote. “You bring so much Joy in my life and so many others. I will always protect you and be here for you whenever you need me. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together Kaylee i love you.”

Mackenzie extended her best wishes to the couple with a comment on Tyler’s Instagram post. “Love u guys❤️❤️,” she wrote.

Their siblings are incredibly proud of their famous sisters

Tyler celebrated Maddie’s sixteenth birthday in a 2018 Instagram post while commending her success at such a young age.

“I’m so proud of you and all of your accomplishments,” he wrote in his caption. “You are growing up so fast and i wish nothing but the best for you! Enjoy your day today and i can’t wait to come visit you! love you."

After Maddie took home the title of Choice Dancer at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, Tyler shared a picture of his little sister on the blue carpet.

“Congrats Maddie, love you 💜 #ChoiceDancer #TeenChoice 💃🏻,” he wrote.

Maddie and Mackenzie have twin step-siblings

After divorcing Maddie and Mackenzie’s father, mom Melissa remarried Greg Gisoni in 2013. Greg has one son and daughter, Matthew and Michele Gisoni, from a past marriage.

Matthew and Michele are twins born on June 1, 1985. Their father, Greg, was the VP and project director of Westinghouse Energy Center. Both Matthew and Michele lead a private life, unlike their famous step-siblings.
