‘Mad TV’ 20th Reunion Crowns Favorite Character
Mad TV ran on Fox from 1995 to 2009, and the 20-year reunion aired Tuesday night. Most of the original cast returned for a trip down the sketch show’s memory lane. It didn’t amount to much more than an hourlong compilation of clips, save for a running bit in which former cast members met on a red carpet in small groups to discuss whose signature character might be awarded fan favorite. In the running were manicurist Miss Swan (Alex Borstein), overgrown weird kid Stuart (Michael McDonald), fast food worker Bon Qui Qui (Anjelah Johnson), glove-loving Dot (Stephanie Weir), middle-aged Midwesterner Lorraine (Mo Collins), and country singer Kenny Rogers (Will Sasso). The winner would go onstage and make a speech, which turned out to be the only new character-driven piece of the whole reunion.
