Macaroni, macaroni, give us the formuoni — SpongeBob mac and cheese is set to return to supermarket shelves for the first time in over a decade.

Kraft announced Tuesday that the SpongeBob Squarepants-themed macaroni and cheese products will make their way to grocery stores in October. The product includes noodles shaped like SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick Starr, Squidward Tentacles, and Gary, the titular character's cat-like snail. The mac-and-cheese will be available in both the standard blue box size and 4-packs of individual Easy Mac portions.

SpongeBob-shaped macaroni noodles are among the most beloved pop-culture tie-in foods this side of Scooby Snacks — a Change.org petition received over a thousand signatures demanding the product's return. The noodles' comeback will warm the hearts (and stomachs) of mac-and-cheese connoisseurs who have been craving foods that look like underwater creatures (without having to actually eat seafood).

One wrinkle in the product's description that may infuriate semioticians: macaroni is technically a shape, not a dish or a type of preparation, which means that altering the shape of the noodle fundamentally alters the very definition of the product. However, it probably still falls under the broader category of "macaroni product" (which also includes spaghetti) as outlined by the Code of Federal Regulations, which defines the category as "the class of food each of which is prepared by drying formed units of dough made from semolina, durum flour, farina, flour, or any combination of two or more of these, with water." Barnacles!
