Mötley Crüe have unveiled the new single “Dogs of War” along with a visually stunning music video. The track marks the legendary rock band’s first new music in five years, and first song with new guitarist John 5.

“Dogs of War” features John 5 prominently, as it contains some heavy riffage and a tantalizing guitar solo. Lyrically, the song is one of defiance, with lines like, “Don’t let the dogs of war/ Come knocking at your door/ As we’re crawling ‘cross the floor/ They’ll make your skin crawl/ They’ll make the stars fall/ Do they matter after all.”

“It’s always great getting back in the studio with the guys in the band,” stated bassist Nikki Sixx. “We know you’re gonna like this one.”

The action-packed music video, conceived by director Nick DenBoer along with input from the band, depicts the members of Mötley Crüe as CGI-generated characters, with nods to their past debauchery throughout the clip. Among the more shocking moments is the detached upper body of John 5 flying out of a dumpster while shredding his guitar.

“Dogs of War” was produced by Bob Rock, who was at the controls for Mötley Crüe’s classic 1989 album Dr. Feelgood.

“Working with the band on the new song was the easiest session I have ever had with them,” said Rock. “The Crüe is the best they have ever been! And they have plenty of new stuff in store.”

As of now, no album or further release has been announced, but as Rock stated, there’s more music on the way. The release of the single follows the recent news that Mötley Crüe has inked a record deal with Big Machine.

In the meantime, fans can catch Mötley Crüe at a number of festivals and one-off shows this year, including Welcome to Rockville, Louder Than Life, and Aftershock. Tickets to their upcoming concerts are available here.
