Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard and Alice Cooper to take over Sun Bowl

This weekend, 1980s rock and roll takes over the Sun Bowl with Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard and Alice Cooper. Cooper has a new single, "White Line Frankenstein" from his new album, Road.

An El Paso musician is planning a Chuco Luao in Central El Paso to celebrate his birthday in a grand way, with various bands, vendors and food trucks.

And the city continues to offer free concerts for families looking for inexpensive things to get out of the house.

Here is a closer look at this weekend and next.

Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard and Alice Cooper

Rockers Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard, with guest Alice Cooper, will bring their world tour to El Paso with a concert Friday, Aug. 18 at the Sun Bowl Stadium. Concert start time is 5:45 p.m. Tickets, ranging from $19 to $149, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com.

Chuco Luau

The Chuco Luau music festival will be from noon to midnight Saturday, Aug. 19 at Old Sheepdog Brewery, 3900 Rosa Ave. The festival will benefit El Pasoans Fighting Hunger and El Paso Human Services' Pride Center. Texas Hart, the festival founder, said the event will feature musicians with reggae, reggaeton and Latin music influences. Bands will include If We Were Turtles, Kainoa from San Antonio and Get the Honey.

The event will include artist vendors, food trucks, hula classes, a low-rider car display and video game tournaments. There also will be a food drive and giveaways. Tickets are $15 at the door; bring three non-perishable items for $5 off. General admission tickets are $10 available at Eventbrite.com

Alfresco! Fridays continue Downtown

Alfresco! Fridays will feature Tribes Friday, Aug. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the El Paso convention center plaza. The free summer concert is scheduled every Friday through Aug. 25. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Guests may not bring outside food, drinks or pets but are encouraged to bring foldable lawn chairs.

Music at the Park

The Music at the Park series continues from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18 at Lomaland Park, 715 Lomita Drive. All the free outdoor music events will include live bands and performances, interactive activities, vendors, informational booths, giveaways and food trucks.

El Paso Roller Derby

Two El Paso Roller Derby travel teams, TexPistols and Pistol WhipHers, will be taking on the two teams from All-Star Juárez, starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 at Nations Tobin Recreation Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird tickets are $10. Tickets will be $12 and $10 for active military with ID at the door. Kids 10 and under get in free with a paying adult.

RBD Reunion Tour

Mexican pop group Rebelde, also known as RBD, is getting together for an exciting tour. The group will perform Aug. 25 at the Sun Bowl Stadium. Tickets, ranging from $143 to $750, plus fees, are available at Ticketmaster.com.

Water Festival 2023

Tech H20 will have its Water Festival 2023 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 26 at 10751 Montana Ave. There will be activities for families, including a rain harvesting workshop and music and dance performances. New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum

The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road in Las Cruces, will have free admission on Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as part of Community Appreciation Day.

The day will include the Parade of Breeds cattle program, pony rides for children, a plant sale, a craft activity and food trucks.

Guests can tour all of the museum’s exhibits. Visitors can also check out the museum’s livestock, including six different breeds of cattle, horses, sheep, and a donkey.
