‘I’m Dying Up Here’: Scott Cohen & David Paymer Join Showtime Comedy Series

Scott Cohen (Necessary Roughness) has joined the ensemble cast of Showtime’s new hourlong comedy series I’m Dying Up Here in a recurring role, and David Paymer (Quiz Show), is set to guest star.

From executive producer Jim Carrey, I’m Dying Up Here is set in L.A.’s celebrated, infamous stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s, during which the careers of many of the comedy superstars began. The series delves into the inspired and damaged psyches that are required to stand alone in front of an audience and make them laugh.

Cohen will recur as Roy Brenner, a powerful talent agent who expects the best from his clients and is intolerant of bad behavior. Cohen most recently guest starred on The Good Wife and The Mysteries of Laura. He’s repped by Gersh and One Entertainment. Paymer will play Ernie Falk, a rich, jovial, well-known TV producer who is a regular at Goldie’s. Repped by APA and LINK Entertainment, Paymer recurred as Judge Richard Cuesta on The Good Wife, and as a director, recently helmed an episode of Lucifer.
