Mar. 6—The Center for the Arts in Grass Valley will be presenting Lyle Lovett on March 19 at the Marisa Funk Theater.

As a singer, composer, and actor, Lovett is considered to have broadened the definition of American music in a career that spans 14 albums. This Texas-based musician utilizes his storytelling abilities while fusing together elements of country, swing, jazz, folk, gospel, and blues.

Since his self-titled debut in 1986, Lovett has evolved into a vibrant and iconic performer with accolades that include four Grammy awards, Americana Music Association's inaugural Trailblazer award, and Texas State Musician. To date he has released 25 singles including "Cowboy Man," the number 10 chart hit in the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs.

His most recent album, "12th of June," released last year on Verve Records and was produced by Chuck Ainlay and Lovett. The album features a mix of new originals, standards by Nat King Cole, Dave Frishberg, and a Horace Silver instrumental.

According to The Wall Street Journal, "few artists can bring all of these moods and sounds into one place and put a personal stamp on them all; Lyle Lovett does that."

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the show scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. The theater is located at 314 W. Main St. in Grass Valley.
