Luxembourg's Princess Tessy Defends Meghan Markle Against Criticism: 'No One Deserves That'

Meghan Markle is receiving support from a fellow royal.

Tessy Antony, Princess of Luxembourg, spoke out in defense of the Duchess of Sussex via Twitter on Sunday night, responding to an op-ed piece posted by Royal Central defending Meghan against online criticism.

“Absolutely! No one deserves that. One should never assume. Either you know or be [quiet],” Tessy, 33, wrote. “It’s not nice to talk badly about someone else just because one can, as he or she takes advantage of the anonymity of the web.”

Tessy, who separated from her husband, Prince Louis of Luxembourg, in January 2017, added, “Stay Kind!!! it’s the new cool! She does not deserve that.”

The kind words come just one day before Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York opened about her perceived rivalry with Princess Diana. Fergie, as she is affectionately known, penned an essay supporting Hello! magazine’s recently launched #HelloToKindness campaign and reflected on the pros and cons of social media.

In it, she alluded to the abuse Meghan and Kate Middleton have been subjected to online, which prompted Hello! to launch their positivity campaign.

“Women, in particular, are constantly pitted against and compared with each other in a way that reminds me of how people tried to portray Diana and me all the time as rivals, which is something neither of us ever really felt,” Fergie wrote.

Five members of the Duchess of Sussex’s inner circle spoke to PEOPLE in last week’s issue about the woman they call their friend – and how she has not changed since joining the royal family.

“From the outside, people want to paint a Cinderella story, but Meg had made her life quite amazing before this,” Meghan’s close confidante says. “She worked hard and earned an amazing career; she did loads of charity and volunteer work; she had a successful lifestyle website [the Tig] with a staff who loved her; she had privacy and freedom, but the means to really enjoy her life and to share that success with her friends —which she always did.”
