Luther Richesson, UC Bearcats freshman quarterback, enters transfer portal
Cincinnati Bearcats freshman quarterback Luther Richesson, who starred at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, has entered the transfer portal, UC confirmed.
Richesson committed to UC last November. Fifth-year senior quarterback Ben Bryant announced his return to UC in January after one season as Eastern Michigan's starting quarterback. Bryant and former Wyoming High School standout Evan Prater are vying for the Bearcats' starting job at QB for the upcoming season.

The NCAA's historically long, pandemic-inflicted recruiting dead period came to an end June 1. Luke Fickell and his staff celebrated by holding an on-campus "Midnight Madness" camp for high school players. The most notable player there was Luther Richesson.
The 6-foot-3, 204-pound quarterback from Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, signed with the Bearcats on Wednesday after committing to the program on Nov. 10.
"Obviously, quarterbacks are a unique position, especially for us being that Desmond Ridder's a senior and we'll lose him," Fickell said. "I wish Luther was going to be here in the spring. I don't think he's going to be. He's not one of the early enrollees. But where he comes from, he's going to have an opportunity to walk in and compete. And I just mean that he's mature beyond his years."
Richesson, who was coached by Super Bowl-winning quarterback Trent Dilfer in High School, picked Cincinnati over offers from Michigan State, Vanderbilt and others.
