The rap superstar won his third-overall award and first trophy for best rap album at the 2007 Grammys for his hit album 'Release Therapy'

Ludacris would like to "Get Back" at the internet's viral reaction to a story he recently shared about Justin Timberlake.

The rap superstar appeared on the Thursday, April 18 episode of Hot Ones and clarified what he meant when he said that the pop star yelled at him for celebrating his win for best rap album too loudly at the 2007 Grammys in a recent, viral interview. Luda, 46, explained that JT, 43, wasn't literally "cursing out" at him, but rather that "it was said more in fun."

The "Act a Fool" rapper simply burst out laughing when Hot Ones host Sean Evans asked, "Fact or fiction: Justin Timberlake cursed you out at the Grammys for celebrating too much?"

He then responded, "I'm glad that you brought this up because the Internet went a little crazy with it."

Ludacris offered further context about the backstage moment and explained that the "Cry Me a River" singer was largely joking.

The Fast and the Furious star revealed, "He definitely meant it, but it was no cursing out."

"He was behind the curtain and I was celebrating so openly and I was so loud," said the hip-hop star, who won took home his first and only best rap album Grammy for his 2006 project Release Therapy, as well as the trophy for best rap song for his collaboration with Pharrell Williams, "Money Maker," that night.

The hitmaker explained, "I think it was said more in fun, but there was definitely some truth behind it. Like, 'OK, show's not over. Stop celebrating so openly, I haven’t won any yet,' but with a smile on his face type of thing."

Luda first spoke about the moment of confusion in a February interview with Drink Champs and it subsequently went viral.

He revealed during the conversation that he made Release Therapy with the intention that he was "going to win best album" after experiencing "a decade of loss" at the Grammys, since he had been competing against fellow hitmakers like Eminem, JAY-Z and others for years.

The hitmaker reflected, "Because I was so passionate after I got that award, I went backstage and, at this time, they had all the artists separated by curtains, so motherf---ers weren’t in specific rooms. I say that to say I get back and I’m like, 'Yeah! F--- yeah! I made it! I did it! I won! I literally set out this album to get a Grammy and I got it!'"

"All of a sudden, I hear this voice from the other side of the curtain," he continued. "They yell, 'Shut the f--- up! Some of us didn’t win any God damn Grammys today!' I pull the curtain back and this n---- Justin Timberlake is on the other side of that motherf---er."

Ludacris didn't seem bothered by the interaction, though, as he called Timberlake "gangster."

Ludacris, who has stepped away from music in the past few years to focus on his acting career and other projects, recently marked his return by stepping out during Usher's Super Bowl half time show.

He also confirmed that his follow-up to his last album, 2015's Ludaversal, is on the way in a November 2023 interview with BET.com.

The recording artist revealed at the time that there's "definitely some music coming next year."

While he wasn't certain if it's "an EP or an LP," the "What's Your Fantasy" rapper expressed being confident that it'll be well worth the wait. "I don't wanna fake, I don't wanna stutter-step. I don't wanna be like [André] 3000 and say, I got an album coming out," he said.

"We’re going to figure it out," Luda added.
