Lucy Fry Joins the Cast of Will Smith’s ‘Bright’ Netflix Movie

Lucy Fry has joined the cast of the Netflix actioner “Bright,” starring Will Smith, Joel Edgerton and Noomi Rapace.

David Ayer (“Suicide Squad”) is directing the $90 million-budgeted pic, the streaming giant’s most expensive film to date.

“Bright” tells the story of a human, played by Smith, and an Orc, played by Edgerton, who must outrun cops, criminals and an assorted collection of magical creatures in order to protect a magical wand.

Written by Max Landis, the script became one of the Hollywood’s hotter packages after WME and CAA took it to buyers when Warner Bros. was unable to make a deal for the rights.

Most felt that a major studio would land the project, given the star power and the price reps were asking upfront for P&A. Netflix, however, swooped in, committing a massive $90 million, spending $3 million alone to acquire the spec.

Production on “Bright” is expected to start sometime this fall with Bryan Unkeless and Eric Newman producing.

Fry was most recently seen Hulu’s adaptation of Stephen King’s “11.22.63” opposite James Franco as well as the Eddie Murphy indie “Mr. Church.” She can be seen next opposite Kevin Bacon in the Blumhouse thriller “The Darkness.”

Fry is repped by ICM Partners, Primary Wave Entertainment and Loeb & Loeb.
