Lucky Daye has officially returned with his latest drop “That’s You,” and recruited the cream of the crop to assist him with the single. The new R&B offering was co-written and co-produced by 16x Grammy-winner Bruno Mars, as well as veteran hitmaker D’Mile.

The accompanying music video, released on Wednesday (Nov. 1), was directed by Nick Walker and tells the sensual story of Daye and a lover. The New Orleans singer encounters beautiful women during a stroll across town, before things eventually take a supernatural turn.

“On the record, Money, diamonds, house in different cities/ I’m livin’ my wildest dreams,” Daye sings in the opening verse. “Crooked smile, I’m in with all the power/ Can do what I want but I’m empty/ Baddies got ’em, model movie options, to makin’ a movie scene/ You know all the game but what’s it really mean?”

When asked about the new tune, Lucky shared via press release, “I sang my heart out on ‘That’s You.’ I felt like I was on the moon. I want people to think about that one person they just can’t be without when they listen. Hopefully that person is a good person.”

This doesn’t mark D’Mile and Daye’s first time making magic together, as the singer has worked closely with the legendary record producer on his last full-length album, Candydrip. The 2022 LP included features from Smino, Lil Durk, and Chiiild across 17 tracks. Since then, the “Late Night” singer has stayed active in 2023 by delivering impressive guest vocals on records like “Smoke” with Victoria Monét and “Is This Real Love” by Debbie.

Candydrip followed Daye‘s 2019 debut LP, Painted, which housed his breakout hits “Roll Some Mo” and “Karma.” The following year also saw a deluxe edition that added six songs and additional features from Chronixx, MediSun, Victoria Monét, and Babyface.
